Inspirational rooms

Clearly I love neutrals. There are certain rooms and sytles of living where this does work, even with kids, especially in kitchens and powder rooms. There is just such a "clean" feel to it.

a garden to admire in michigan

This is such an incredible little garden...well it's not really little...but it is a hidden gem. While vacationing in Michigan, we found this hidden treasure and it is too perfect not to share! Enjoy.

Back from Michigan!

Michigan was just beautiful...and I just had to show what a wonderful place it is!

New Arte Italica has arrived!

There is nothing like a beautiful container that looks just as good empty as it does full. Of course at The Perfect Petal we like to fill it...but just in case you don't...you're safe.

The black is my current fav. I love it filled with the fresh fall colors. Even just a big bunch of fresh bittersweet looks perfect.

Cottage Living...dreamy

My husband was sweet enough to bring me home the current issue of Cottage Living today. We are both in love with this house! This is a re-hab'd 1930's house that they have completely transformed. It shows a great example of simple and elegant landscaping. It's not too overdone and looks natural with the exterior of the house. So many times people landcape with all of the same bushes and shrubs and their house looks just like everyone else's. Using the right goodies, with good mulch, and a good layout won't necessarily cost more...it just takes thinking outside of the box. Check out more pics at www.cottageliving.com.

happy labor day...hope you're not laboring

Doesn't this just look like the perfect place to be on this labor day? I think so. Now is the time to start switching out of some of your blooming plants that are looking tired and sad, and into some lush green plants and topiaries to take you through the fall.

pots..pots...and more pots

New pots have arrived! We have loads and loads of new Guy Wolff pots in along with some neat new aged stone pottery. These are all perfect for not only plants but also for fresh floral arrangements. Feeling the need to place an order? I thought so.

I cracked!

Ok, so I was definately one who just couldn't stand when stores rushed the holidays with putting their mercahndise out too soon, but now I have joined them. These vendors just ship it all so darn early that you can't help but to! So, here is it...a small sampling of the goodies.

i love succulents!!

My husband and I were fortunate enough to visit the beautiful Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara, and they had loads of potted succulents all over the property. Living in the heart of Texas, it gets so hot that it is tough to keep outdoor plants alive. This is an excellent way to have long lasting plants along with beautiful texture! I place them indoors too, which really brings a modern twist to indoor planting.

my first blog

Well, I decided it was time to do a blog since I am obsessed with reading everyone else's. It all started with my love for the show "flipping out" on bravo. I love the style that they have so I started reading the blog for browndesigninc.com. This led me to start reading all of the blogs listed there they love, and so on...and on...and on. I literally would sit for hours linking from one to the next.
My other obsession is design. I am a florist with a fresh style European influenced floral shop. I love the look of everything fresh...from fresh floral, to gardens, to all other sorts of home designs. It is my hope that one say the whole world will get rid of all of their fake floral and plants around their home and replace it with fresh! There is nothing like walking in to a room and seeing a beautiful arrangement on a table, or walking outside and seeing a beautiful potted plant with blooming flowers or wonderful succulents.
